You might not know all of us. We are the workers who make the museum run. We are the people who work in the store, help you find your way, and tell the stories of the museum’s great works of art.
We deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. We, as workers, should all be paid fair wages, have benefits, and have job security.
The Walters is a leader in the museum industry. We believe that we can only achieve our organization’s goals by tapping the talents, experiences, and expertise of all our staff. We are proud to work here and look forward to a strong partnership created through organizing our union.

Dear Walters Art Museum Board and Leadership,
As members of the community, we stand by the workers who are forming their union - Walters Workers United. The museum is a special place for all of us. Every day, the workers at the Walters bring experience, expertise, and passion to their work. As visitors, program participants, colleagues in the field and community members, we see the value that their work adds to our community.
We believe in their legal right to freely organize their union. This requires a safe and respectful environment in which workers may speak without fear of retaliation and leadership remains neutral throughout the organizing process. This will foster an environment that lives up to the mission of the Walters.
Through recognizing their union, Walters Workers United, the Walters has a unique opportunity to actualize their stated DEAI goals. We are turning to the Walters to make tangible progress in their inclusivity of staff. We see this as one of the first opportunities to concretely change the future of the organization.
